Riky and I work so well together. I know that I say this frequently in my posts, but that is because it is so true! I am blessed with a wonderful man.
Take, for example, tonight:
We had a Wrestling tournament today. Our first for this season. I don't think words can describe my feeling toward wrestling, but, Riky loves the sport, and I love him, so I spent about 8 hours sitting on bleachers in a gymnasiam with at least 1,000 people today. My tail bone will never be the same. Ah, the sacrifices you will make for love!
Last week I invited my stepmom over to dye her hair and also asked her to stay for dinner. I made these arrangements on Jeffrey's birthday for today and proptly...
forgot about them.
Anyway, she called to ask me if we were home from the tournament at about the same time as Riky's aunt called to tell us that she was on her way over to check out the pellet stove that we were wanting to get rid of. Can you say "AHHHHHHH!" But what I really said was something like "sure come on over."
I started frantically running around barking orders. Riky was directing traffic and the house was company ready in about 15 minutes. Except for all of the laundry that I still had to fold. And the wrestling bag that needed unpacking.
I just shoved it all into my bedroom and shut the door.
Now I was company ready.
Well, if you ignore the fact that we tore the paneling and trim off of where Michael's room is going to be, and that was a disaster, but that is a work in progress. So in my mind, that doesn't count. In my mind.
Riky suggested Shrimp Scampi for dinner, which was not a bad idea, if we had any shrimp. Anyone ever heard of Chicken Scampi? Well you have now! Chicken breasts went into the oven with butter and I set out the water for spagetti noodles and opened a couple of cans of peas, ('cause that is the first thing that I could find.) I also decided to do a box of instant mashed potatoes. I got all of the ingredients ready and on the stovetop. Riky's aunt and uncle showed up about the same time as my stepmom. Things were moving along smoothly. I flipped the chicken, Riky's aunt and uncle left, I turned all of the burners onto the right settings, and I started to dye Mom's hair.
Riky came in about 15 minutes later and asked if he could help speed up the dinner process any. I said "sure" and began directing him in the preparation of dinner. He did a great job! I had fun, and Mom was laughing about us allowing the potato stuff to boil over and blaming it on each other. We were all laughing when Riky asked if it was black olive oil or green olive oil that he was supposed to be looking for in the Lazy Susan. I don't even remember all of the things that made us laugh, but there were plenty!
It was a wonderful evening and dinner was fabulous! I enjoyed our time visiting and was pleased that my husband is who he is. I love him dearly and wouldn't trade him for anything!
