On Sundays we always ask the boys what they learned in Sunday School and then Junior Church on our 25 minute drive home from church. It is the perfect time to see what they are absorbing. Since Michael turned 8, he and Jeffrey have been in two different Sunday School classes, so we would ask them individually and then usually start with Jeffrey for Junior Church and Michael would fill in the details when Jeffrey said that was "all he could remember."
It was working out perfectly, but had to be adjusted in November when Jordan turned 4 and joined Jeffrey in his Sunday School class. We ask Jordan first now, because he usually remembers the least amount and then Jeffrey can fill us in.
Apparently hearing your name in the story does captivate a young boy's attention.
So, what was Sunday School about today, Jordan?
mmmmmm. Oh, yeah. We talked about the Jordan River again.
Oh, what about it?
mmmmmmmm. Oh, they carried a boat across it.
A boat?
Yeah!
Across the Jordan River?
Yeah!
And they carried it?
Yeah!
Ok, well, what else did they do?
Just carried the boat around.
Jeffrey... can you tell me which story he's talking about?
We talked about Jericho and the walls falling down and how they marched around it.
So...what boat is Jordan talking about?
You know, first they had to cross the Jordan River carrying the Ark and then they had to carry it around the city.
