I always use my blinkers to signal a lane change.
Riky, being a cement truck driver, has made sure that I am not included in the ranks of the "idiots" who can't remember where they are going until the last possible moment. He is so annoyed (and then some) when he is sitting in his concrete truck with thousands of pounds of weight behind him and some (insert clean, yet colorful word here) one decides it is the exact moment to execute a movement that makes his blood boil and his truck shake. Concrete does not stop on a dime.
My Brother-in-law had a great idea. He thinks that all drivers who apply for a licence should test in a big truck. The roads would be much safer if everyone was thinking like a semi-truck driver. Now, I know that there are some truck drivers out there that are not the most cautious. I also know that sometimes they are just DONE, after dealing with idiots all day. But all in all, they are a cautious lot.
That being said, I repeat, I always use my blinkers to signal my intent.
We were driving down 6th Ave. on our way to church visitations on Saturday. Riky was in one of four lanes and behind us was Josh and Jordan (of Created to Be His) Josh changed lanes (with proper signaling, of course :) Jeffrey was in the back commentating Josh's every move.
"He just Blinked into the other lane. Daddy, you should blink into the other lane, too. He's right behind us now. Why did you blink into this lane? Oh, oh, good, Brother Josh blinked over too. Daddy, are we going to blink left or blink right up there? Good, because Brother Josh is going to blink right, too. Hey, look, Brother Josh is going the same way we are. He's blinking left too. Do you think he always goes the same way as us to church?"
I hope that Jeffrey keeps these blinking sessions in his heart and never joins the ranks of the indecisive "idiots" who don't know where they are going and certianly don't care to keep anyone informed of their intentions.
I also hope that he never grows up.

That is so funny! I had to laugh because when I'm with him I always notice that Josh DOESN'T use his blinker. It drives me nuts, but I never say anything.
However....I think he has two different driving modes....work, and pleasure. When I'm with him, it's usually a relaxed pleasure trip. (Ha! I flatter myself. ROFLOL) When I'm not he subconsciously goes into work mode. Thus, the proper driving etiquette you were so priviledged to have witnessed on Saturday. :~D
But of course (read this with a British accent, or maybe it is French-it sounds better in my head)Josh is always the perfect gentleman when around us. He was well behaved and manorly(sp) just because we were in sight. ; )
