I am the Mother of Boys

I used a new tomato sauce for Chicken Cacciatore on Monday. The sauce comes in a glass jar. I always save glass jars. Simply because I am the Mom of 3 boys. They are always looking for new bug jars. If I don't save pickle jars and such, my canning jars (and lids) have a habit of being sacrificed in the name of Science. I JUST CAN'T BRING MYSELF to reuse a jar for canning that some spider breathed his last breath in. I JUST CAN'T. So.... I save all glass jars. They even have a place of honor on my kitchen counter right by the back door. This enables there to be no frantic hunting and rummaging of the oldest while yelling back over his shoulder to the three year old "don't let it get away...stop screaming, they do not bite...I have to find a jar" There is no need for purposefully torturing poor Jordan who has just recently conquered his fear of bugs enough to pick up what he calls Rolly Polly Ollies--he has never even seen the cartoon of the same name, that was his own naming. Poor Baby. Back to the sauce jar. When I pulled it out of the dishwasher, I examined it. It is contoured in just such a way as to have a magnifying effect on anything inside of it. I actually felt myself get a little excited. Can you believe it? What a thing to get excited over!! I am truly, completely the Mother of Boys. I love them dearly, but the sound of "Mommy, come look quick- before it gets away" makes me want to run in the other direction--somedays. Others I shout back "hold on to it while I grab a jar" and hustle out the door. Galatians 1:3,4,5

Having boys certainly does put a new spin on things. You just never know what you're going to find creeping and crawling in your laundry and house. It gives me the shivers just thinking about it! ;)
