The Big 3 0

*edited, I remembered more.

Well, It is finally over...My 20s that is. I am now 30 and 1 day. According to my husband, I now have one foot in the grave. It is so sad really, I thought that I had alot more life left in me, but I guess I should get out the rocking chair and learn how to make doilies.
I did have a nice day and I know for a fact that Riky had fun taunting me. He thinks he is so funny! Black balloons adorned our entryway (but the Lord graced me with a huge windstorm that blew most of them away before too many people even saw them : ) There was lots of family here and a few girlfriends, too. We had a Hamburger/Hot Dog barbecue, cake ( German chocolate with a can of pie cherries mixed in--if you like choc. covered cherries-you'll like this cake-be forewarned, it has to bake almost twice as long as usual), Michael made me a white cake all by himself-- I was so proud of him-- and we churned cherry ice cream. I am thankful for all of the gifts that I received, and in my next post will tell how Riky and I used the money that I got (and some overtime) for a much needed get away! It was truly fabulous! Thank you, Riky, for loving me enough to care to remember!
I must add that I had three(five) gifts that stand out-- the boys got me a Fly Lady duster--spectacular-- , I was given 30 FORKS~over the years, mine have been thrown away and company has got to notice that I only have(had) 6 big forks and the rest are small or plastic! Sherri gave me a subscription to Missus Smarty Pants I am going to give this gift to every woman I know and be their new favorite person! I have had 3 people ask me if I have lost weight (answer: no) and one person tell me that I look so well put together these days (in comparison to what? was I falling apart before?). I have not bought a stitch of clothing yet. I have just started putting together what I own already in different ways, apparently with great results. No, not great, fabulous! (One of these days I will do a post on why I use that word so much! now that I have your attention drawn to it, I had better post on it soon, hua?) one of the other gifts was a picnic basket~we used it the day after to go down to the river for some fishing and lunch~what a perfect gift! and last but not least, Riky bought me a beautiful dining room table. I love it. It is huge and gorgeous! There are six matching chairs (like forks, I couldn't keep a full set of those around either : ) It was delivered about two weeks before my day, so that is how I temporarily forgot about it. Oops!
So here I go venturing into the great abyss that is my thirties...won't you join me, it's sure to be an interesting ride!

Amanda,
just love the wonderful sense of humor that God has given to Riky. if you think that 30 is bad...just wait until you hit the big 4-0. that was a really hard one for me. now i am the huge 6-4!! so happy to hear that you had a really nice birthday party. see you wed at church.
love,

You are so funny! I think you're the perfect help meet for Riky because of your sense of humor. If my husband did that for me, I wouldn't be amused. Not at all. :) But you made your party fun by your responses. You handled it all very graciously. And, yes, please do post soon about your use of the word "fabulous", and your anniversary getaway! Can't wait! :D
