Bible Study 3

Ephesians 4: 22-27
That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.
Be ye angry and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Neither give place to the devil.

Ok. That was a long portion of scripture. But I really wanted to get all of the points that need to be touched on typed out.

The first thing this touches on is our conversation. It specifically talks about our former, corrupt, deceitful conversation. The most important conversation that we need to control is the one with ourselves. This is the type of conversation that we are not to have with ourselves.
The next verses deal with what we should do instead. The old man thought the old thoughts and had the old conversations. The new man, is supposed to think and speak "after God" in righteousness and holiness. We are supposed to put away lies and grab onto truth.
The next verse says that it is ok to be angry, but we are supposed to deal with that anger right away and not let it get carried away by our thoughts.
And then there is my favorite verse of this whole passage. "Neither give place to the devil." This is easier said than done, but it is usable scripture. I use this in combination with"Get thee behind me,Satan"... I will not give place to the Devil. The devil has no claim on my mind and I will continue to fight to not give him a place to dwell.

  Will you join me in this fight?
