God Knew

After reading this post of Sherri's, I decided to share my search for a life verse.

Years ago I asked God for a verse that He meant to be special for me(a life verse, if you will). I prayed and read, read and prayed. At the very beginning (within 2 weeks) of my praying Psalms 23:6 popped into my head, along with a few other verses that I was familiar with. I pushed them aside ~ thinking that they were just so familiar that "I" was coming up with them, not God. After 2 years of praying and reading I was still stuck on Psalms 23:6 as my special verse, but I have been too embarrassed to share it with many people because I didn't want to seem lazy in my searching.

I mean, EVERYBODY knows Psalms 23. People who aren't saved know Psalms 23. There are jokes about Psalms 23. There are tons of landscapes paintings with Psalms 23 plastered on them. Skits are written about Psalms 23. We did a VBS with Psalms 23 as the theme. Psalms 23, Lord? Are you sure?

Psalms 23:6, to be specific.

"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."

This is my precious verse. God has ingrained it into my heart so deeply that my eyes pool with tears every time I see, hear, or read it. God knew how popular this verse was before He gave it to little ol' me. God knew that everywhere I turned I would see it on landscapes, pictures of still water, pictures of shadowed valleys, paintings of green pastures. God knew that we would live in Shepherd where every single day we would see sheep, and green pastures. God knew that there was a beautiful hymn written just for me. God knew how hardhearted and stiff necked I could be. God knew how frequently I would need to be reminded of His goodness and mercy. God knew how often I would need to be reminded that in the end I, me, Amanda~ would dwell in the house of the Lord forever. I get to go to Heaven. No matter how awful I was, no matter what I have done to loose people's favor. Jesus Christ has paid the price for MY sins and I get to go to Heaven and dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

God knew.

What's you life verse? I would love for you to leave me a comment and share your verse with me.
