Ah, Black Friday

Riky's cell phone Rings at 3:35 am. He rolls over to answer it.

I shut off my alarm clock thinking to myself "I thought that I set this thing for 4:00am."

"I'm sorry, you have the wrong number" Riky hangs up the phone.

Who in the world doesn't MAKE SURE he has the right number when dialing the phone at dark-thirty?

"Did you shut off your clock?" Riky asks me. "Yep"
"That was the phone." He says. "Yep"
"Are you getting up?" He rolls over. "Yep"

Then I wake up. That was the phone? I don't have to get up for another 25 minutes. I turn my clock back on. But now I am doubting. What if I didn't reset it right? What if it doesn't go off? What if Wanda calls to ask what my ETA is and I have to tell her I haven't rolled out of bed yet?

I peek at my clock. 3:42am

What if I don't wake up on time. What if Wal-Mart is out of that one thing that I am going for. 3:45

What if I have my clock set for 4:00 pm? What if the power goes off between now and 4:00? 3:50.

I should just get up. What am I waiting for? I only have 10 minutes left anyway. Unless I hit snooze one time. Then I have 19 minutes. 19 is almost 20. Twenty minutes is almost half an hour. Why should I get out of this warm, cozy bed? I have almost a half hour left. 3:54

I should get up and get the car started. It is only 12 degrees outside. I'll want it warmed up before I get out there. But then I have to get out of bed. And put a coat on. And trudge through the snow to start the car. I wonder if anyone has a killer deal on remote starters? 3:56

I doze off to the sound of Riky's steady breathing.

MEEEEP--MEEEEP--MEEEEP--MEEEEP--MEEEEP What is that noise? It's four o'clock in the morning for goodness sake.

We had a wonderful time. We found some good deals, Had five hours of girl talk, drank lots of coffee, ate pretzel dots for breakfast, and had some more girl talk. I love Black Friday. Riky and the boys were still in their jammies when I got home. I hope that we are able to keep doing this every. single. year. I had such a blast. We only hit 2 stores and the mall. The mall was mostly for browsing purposes, but it was fabulous, just the same!
