Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Last week the Extreme crew was in our area. We were able to drive by the location about once a day each of the 7 days they were working on the house. I absolutely love the show and was astounded at actually being able to watch their progress. It REALLY IS that fast! After talking it over with Riky, I was able to go volunteer after church on Wed. night. I got there about 11:00pm and stayed until 4:00am. It was so exciting. I was not sure how to even go about volunteering, so I just drove the 8 miles to the site and asked a security guard how to go about helping out. He directed me to a tent in the distance. There were only a few slots left available before 2:ooam and I was able to get one of them (Thanks Claudia and Danny!) I had to wait for about 20 minutes for there to actually be a position available. I was placed on catering, which is a glorified way of saying I straightened food stuff, condiments, filled coolers with water bottles, wiped tables... I was able to meet one producer and a woman who was in charge of something, I am not sure what. They then gave two other ladies and I permission to go into the house with flats of drinks to take to the workers. We got to see the house! It was rather nice, but not totally off the wall. It would be manageable as far as cleaning goes, and comfortable without being a spectical. They did a nice job in the designing. I went into the house 3 times. So, on the fast forward scene record and look really close, I am the one in the blue shirt LOL I don't know if I will be able to see me or not, but I sure did have fun. My mom was able to be there for the "Move that Bus" scene. She also had a wonderful time. What a neat experience. I would love to be more involved if the opportunity ever presented itself again, but for now I am just loving the T-Shirt! What a blast! Of course, I did not get to meet Ty or any of the design team, but if I had volunteered at a time that they were there, I would not have been able to go into the house, so that's alright. Everyone was so nice-from the landscaping and construction crews to the security guys. There was such an atmosphere of...well, kind of like-Christmas excitement. The sneaky, behind the scenes giggles of the friends of the family...Everyone who was "in the know" couldn't wait for the family to come home. The episode will air in October. It was an experience that I would recommend to anyone who gets the opportunity. Just drive right up there and ask how you can help. You will be blessed by it, for sure. Galatians 1:3,4,5
